| I had no idea the phenomenon that would surround me when my first novel, The Christmas Cookie Club, hit the stands and I felt as if I were at the forefront of a movement I did not even know existed. People across the country were excited to tell me about their cookie exchanges and hand me favorite recipes. Because of the charity aspect of the novel, groups gathered to bake cookies for the troops and the homeless. The novel was translated into six languages and, through the glory of the Internet and the social media, readers across the world reached me. In Australia, a new cookie club donated cookies to their hospice and the director sent me pictures of her patients receiving them. In China, a reader wanted to donate clothes to a school I visited in Tanzania.
Marybeth Bayer, my close friend and the hostess of the cookie club I attend, and I decided to write a cookbook to help people start their own club. The Christmas Cookie Cookbook came out in 2010.
A Gift For My Sister, my second novel, follows Sky and Tara who were introduced in The Christmas Cookie Club. It will be on the stands in the UK in November, 2011, and in the US, spring, 2012.
You can read an excerpt in the mass market paperback with its bright red cover, along with a new chapter with more recipes including the winners of my Facebook cookie contest, a readers guide, and an interview.
